Excitation functions of deuteron induced nuclear reactions on enriched 78 Kr with particular relevance to the production of 76 Br
نویسندگان
چکیده
Excitation functions of the Kr(d, α)Br, Kr(d, n)Rb and Kr(d, x)Kr reactions were measured for the first time in the energy range up to 13 MeV using the stacked gas cell technique and activation method. Highly enriched Kr was used as target material. The maximum cross section of the Kr(d, α)Br reaction at 13 MeV amounts to 21 mb and the calculated yield of Br over the energy range Ed = 13 → 4 MeV to only 59 kBq/μA h. Due to the very low expected yield of Br and the high cost of the target gas, this route is not suitable for production of Br compared with the other well investigated production routes.

The radioisotope 67Ga (T 1/2 = 78 h) in extensively used as single photon marker for detecting the presence of malignancy and the diagnosis of inflammatory diseases. The high tumor specificity of carrier-free 67Ga make it one of the most interesting radionuclides in nuclear medicine for in vivo scanning studies. 67Ga is a cyclotron produced radioisotopes and is one of the radiopharmaceuti...

The 4.6-hour Kr" period was reported by SnelP as a result of deuteron bombardment of krypton. The Kr" period was not obtained by Clancy' as a result of alpha-particle bombardment of selenium. In the latter bombardments, only a 114-minute krypton period, assigned to the excited level of stable Kr~, and a 33-hour krypton period, assigned to Kr ' ", were observed. The Kr'~ period was then consider...

The positron emitter Mn (t1/2 5 46.2 min, Iβ1 5 97%) is of potential interest in positron emission tomography (PET). With a view to optimizing its production route, excitation functions for deuteron induced nuclear reactions on isotopically enriched (,95%) Cr were determined radiochemically over the energy range of 3 to 13 MeV and for proton induced nuclear reactions on Cr in the range of 18 to...

Background & Aims: Copper-61 (61Cu) is a radioisotope with a half-life of 3.33 hours which decays to nickel-61 isotope byβ+ emission (61%) or electron capture (39%). This radioisotope can be used in the evaluation of the blood supply of the heart and low-oxygen cancer tissues imaging with PET. 61Cu is mainly produced by bombarding zinc (Zn), nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co) targets in medium cyclot...

The ultraviolet photolysis dynamics of Kr-HBr(v=0) is investigated by means of wave packet calculations, focusing on the fragmentation pathway Kr-HBr+ variant Planck's over 2pi omega-->H+Kr-Br. Photolysis is simulated by starting from two different cluster initial states, namely the ground van der Waals (vdW) and an excited vdW bending state, associated with the Kr-H-Br and Kr-Br-H isomers, res...
